Bulimia

Website of Jocelyn Golden - Recovering Bulimic, Author and Speaker on Bulimia.

"Learning To Be Me" the book is available at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Gurze books (both online and through their catalog) and all good online book retailers.

It tells the story of my battle with this horrific disease Bulimia with complete honesty and openness. I wrote this book to spare others the journey I have taken.

If you are a sufferer, parent, spouse, or friend, this book will help you to understand the many facets of this disease and how false and destructive its promises are. I hope this will help you find your path to recovery or help you understand and be compassionate towards another who is suffering.

My twenty-three year battle will not have been in vain if I can educate and give hope to others and save them from the physical and emotional pain this disease brings.

"A sincere thank you to so many of you across the globe who have read my book and emailed me with your wonderful comments."

September 10, 2009, St Paul, MN:

Panel Discussion at the Joy Project

The Joy Project would like to invite you to attend a very special event! Our moderated panel discussion will bring together eating disorder Survivors, Researchers, and Treatment Providers, for a mutual exchange of ideas, observations, and experiences.

Among the panelists are authors Jocelyn Golden and Shannon Cutts, Binge Eating Disorder Association Director Chevese Turner, and members of our own support groups.

This collaborative dialogue will bring together stakeholders on all sides of the process, allowing all participants to speak freely as they spark new insights, forge new partnerships, discuss what works and what doesn't, and ultimately create a framework for a new level of understanding as we move forward in the field of eating disorders. Jocelyn Speaking at Yale University

Jocelyn spoke at Yale University in April to a large group of students many of whom were psychology majors looking to get a better insight into Bulimia and Eating Disorders in general. It was heartening to see such interest and the level of questions were excellent in their thoughtfulness and eagerness to truly understand the nature of these diseases.

It gives great comfort to know that there is a new generation of professionals coming through who will be able to help sufferers in their struggles to recover from these insidious diseases.

Testimonials & Reviews:

"Having read many books on eating disorders, I am always inspired by ones that are written from a personal perspective.  Learning To Be Me is so honest and bravely written. It offers readers immense hope and I am already recommending it to some of my clients. I especially liked the unique section in the back of the book about what to expect from therapy. I found it to be extremely thorough and really able to give readers a sense of what to expect and look for from their treatment team."
Andrea Wachter
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Co-author of The Don't Diet, Live-It Workbook
Co-founder of InnerSolutions Counseling Services

"After reading "Learning To Be Me", I began recommending it to the many adolescent and young adult clients in the throws of recovery. Since the author became bulimic at such a young age, it has profoundly helped the many bewildered youths I treat who see they are not alone and what the path to healing can look like."
Francie White
M.S. Nutrition, Registered Dietician, Owner of Inner Escapes Professional Trainings and Central Coast Intensive Outpatient Eating Disorders Center

"What struck me the most about this book was the detail for which the author goes. She digs so deeply into her experience that it can be shocking, even to someone like myself, who has been through a similar experience. The writing is honest, courageous and full of the emotion she has carried with her over the years.....The end of the book includes an essay by the author’s husband who has been by her side for the last few years and was involved in her recovery. It’s a poignant account of the struggle that he went through in trying to help his wife learn to be herself.
This is a heart-wrenching and unique story that goes deep inside the mind of a bulimic." (
